April to June and September to October for mild weather and manageable crowds; July-August is peak season with high prices and heavy tourism, though ideal for the Riviera and coastal regions. Winter is magical in Paris and perfect for skiing in the Alps.

Early morning or evening for fewer crowds and stunning light; spring and autumn for pleasant weather. Winter evenings offer magical illumination with smaller queues.
